August favorites + September challenge

Omg, times goes by so fast! It's already the end of August! That means only 4 favourite posts until new year. Can you believe it? :D
So, let's just start with my monthly favourites, shall I :)

It was so unbelievably hot this month that my feet got swollen and it wasn't really a pleasant feeling. I bought Badger foot balm Peppermint & tea tree with my last order from BB Natura and hey! It helped! I applied it before bed time and next morning my feet looked much much better. Badger balms never disappoint me!

I wanted to mention Beauty blender in my last monthly favourites, but I forgot, silly me. I bought it on eBay and it's a dupe to a real beauty sponge, and it works great for me. I've heard that dupes are not as near as good as the original ... I'm wondering how the original works. :)

I like scented candles a lot. My favorites are from drugstore DM, it's their brand called Profissimo. Mango and papaya scent is the best :).

Favorite song: We are never ever getting back together cover by Joey Graceffa and Luke Conard. It's just pure awesomeness! :)

Second favourite song: Kno - La petite mort (Come die with me). I'm still into un-mainstream music :) (and right now I'm listening to Britney Spears :D).

Now to the September challenge, I'm participating in THREE nail challenge by Mateji ustvarjata/Two Matejas creating. Because they are so super cool and kind, they let me do makeup looks, because I'm not really a nail expert :D
Expect 9 new makeup looks from me this month. So super excited about this challenge! :)

Have a lovely day!

Recipe: vegan chocolate mousse/pudding

I don't really post two or more blog posts in a day, but since the last one was just "I'm on Facebook" information, I decided to write another post today, a recipe. Yay! I already posted a picture on Facebook in "Food" album, and I think it's time to share my favorite dessert with you :).

It's super easy to make (5 minutes), it's vegan, a healthy snack, dessert or even breakfast :)

Ingredients (for one person):
- one ripe avocado (use a smaller avocado or just half of bigger one)
- cocoa powder (preferably an organic one, I used regular one)
- agave nectar (or maple syrup)
- (optional) cinnamon

Put peeled and cut avocado into a food processor and mix until smooth consistency.

Add 2-3 spoons of agave nectar and mix. Add 2 spoons of cacao powder and little bit of cinnamon, mix again. Make sure that all ingredients are well combined.
Et voila! Serve and enjoy! :)

I saw this recipe on Cinnamon and Thyme blog, she just added rum and coconut cream on top. Here is a video from The Sweetest Vegan for the same dessert: click.
Here is a video how to peel and cut an avocado: click. Explanation is kinda ridiculous :D

Instead of agave nectar, you can use honey, in that case it would be just vegetarian dessert :) (I'm so into vegetarian/vegan thing right now).
If consistency is too thick, use a little bit of soy or almond milk. Or just regular, if you don't care about the vegan part :).

Avocados are super foods, full of potassium, fiber, Vitamin E, folic acid and healthy fats. I will write another post soon on how to use avocados.

Bon apetit!

Nicki Minaj Super Bass inspired makeup look

I was in a mood for creating something crazy, not really a natural look ... Nicki Minaj was first person that came to my mind, although I'm not really a fan. I didn't even watch a video or look at any hers pictures, I had in mind that she wore yellow eyelid and barbie doll lips.
And I created it with quite cheap makeup: just one palette on eyes, mostly Essence, NYX, E.l.f. ...

Products used:

Eyes:
- Essence I <3 Stage eyeshadow base
- Oriflame Kohl pencil Nude (as a base to make yellow and pink shadows pop)
- Coastal Scents 88 Color Eye Shadow Palette (bright and shimmery yellow on lids, orange-y brownish shadow in crease, lower lash line purple-pink)
- Essence gel eyeliner  01 Midnight in Paris
- E-bay false lashes (nothing useful written on the box)
- Artdeco all in one mascara (just on upper lashes)

Eyebrows:
- Coastal Scents 88 Color Eye Shadow Palette (light brown)

Face:
. Bourjois BIO detox 52 Vanille
- Bourjois Healthy mix concealer 52 medium radiance
- NYX Mosaic Powder 01 highlighter (on cheek bones, down the nose, underneath eyebrows, above lips)
- E.l.f. blush Pink Passion

Lips:
- Revlon matte 002 Pink Pout
- Barry M 52 (bright pink)

I wasn't intending to write a blog post about this look, but when I finished and took pictures, I asked myself why not!? I was quite happy with the outcome.
I finally started writing a "note book" for my blog, where I take notes and ideas for future blog posts. I have like one million other makeup looks I want to recreate, and Nicki wasn't one of them :D.

If you want to see and how I recreate any particular look, leave a comment :)

So, what do you say? Nicki or not?

Unusual beauty tips: many uses of a lip balm

One day I came up with an idea, that I could start new blog post series, where I share unusual/weird beauty tips: how can you use one products in many other ways or something similar.

Today I will present you many uses of a lip balm. Let's start :)

1. If you can use your lip balm on your dry lips, you can definitely use them on other dry areas of your body, on your elbows and knees for instance. Apply as a normal cream, recommend before bed time, that's when skin is regenerating and lip balm is very thick, it may bother you during the day. Also, if you have any dry spots on your face, apply it on these areas.

2. You can use it as a under eye cream. Skin around eyes is very delicate, so we have to take extra care of it. Apply it on your under eye area, and tap it a little bit with your ring finger to spread it evenly. Apply it before sleep, let it absorb over night.

3. Prevent wrinkles! Apply it on face areas where you have some wrinkles (or are wrinkles in the making!) before bed. For me, those areas are my forehead and smiling lines. I smiler too much, I guess :D.

4. You can also use it as an eyebrow wax. Apply some lip balm on your finger and go over your eyebrows. Shape them in place, you can even help yourself with a spoolie brush.

Do you know any other uses of a lip balm? Leave them in comment section, would love to hear! :)

Hope this post was helpful to some of you, especially if you're living on a budget or travelling and don't want to take one million products with you :).

Have a lovely day/night :),

What's in my purse? Video TAG

It's fun time, it's TAG post/video time! :P
Yesterday xoxo Alexis Leigh posted a video "what's in my purse" on her blog and I decided to do it, too :)

Well, my purse it's actually a bag, and I've been wearing it a lot lately. I bought it when I was in London (their bags are also available online: click, I think they're awesome!), and I like it for its "school" look. I can put a lot of stuff in and it is across body bag, so it's easy to carry around.

I recorded a video, but I'm not talking, I'm not comfortable with talking in English in public :D (I don't even know how to write properly!).
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with editing either, I wanted to put music or writing in my video, but I don't even think I have a proper editing program. Oh, well, I still hope it's watchable :).

So, let's take a look inside my bag :)
(making myself pretty at the beginning :PP)

- mobile phone Nokia E5 (call me maybe? :D)
- pocket of tissues
- random piece of paper with some notes
- pink headphones
- keys
- 'dragon eye' ring from E-bay
- Bionsen Stick deodorant (aluminium free! It's my fave)
- pretty leopard print bow I made myself :)
- empty pouch for sunglasses
- Bourjois lipstick 49 Rose allure
- hand sanitizer
- mouth freshener, because you never know when you'll have to kiss someone :D and I don't chew gums
- 2 lip balms: Badger Grape Fruit and Hurraw! coconut
- 2 pockets of tissues
- Refresh eye drops, because I'm a contact lens wearer and I can get pretty dry eyes
- 100 % pure hand cream Strawberry lemonade
- S-he lip gloss
- pink planner, which I always forget I have :D
- wallet with lots of card and according to my face expression it has some money in it :D
- cosmetic/makeup bag with lots of junk: hair brush, eyelash curler, mini mascara (it's dried up :( ), a rubber band (which is aways good to have if you have short hair :D), a mirror, mini mouth wash, buttons (who knows why), a pen, universal balm from Oriflame, mini calendar, a floss, Essence return to paradise Oil paper control, random product cap, medicine for allergies and sleep/stress (I take medicine just when it's urgent), bandages
- a sketch book
- mini bag (how do you call those in English? :D) with a pen, Hello Kitty pencil and rubber
- yellow marker

According to my bag, I'm an "oral hygiene obsessed with 'too much stuff in her bag' cry-baby" (have you seen all those packets of tissues??! :))

I usually carry a bottle of water as well, I drink loads of water! :)

What's in your bag/purse? If you have a "what's in my purse" post or video you can leave a link in the comment, or send it via email :)

Have a lovely day,

I love ...

In every inspirational/motivational book or in books about life in general, you'll read to focus on thing you love. Those things I mentioned in this post may be a little bit random, but whenever I do, see, think or make any of them, they make me the happiest.
Those are not things I've been loving lately, I would say I love them every day ... :)

There is something special about red nail polish. It's so feminine, sophisticated, classy, yet still enough edgy and daring for my liking. I have more than 10 nail polishes in "red family" :).

I love being a blogger. Although I was kinda "forced" to start blogging, now I don't ever want to stop. I love interacting with followers through comments, tweeter, sending emails ... I just love whole blogger community in general.

I don't have luck with keeping flowers alive in my home :D, but I admire roses. Especially red roses. They are just so beautiful!

There are two kinds of people: the ones who don't like tattoos and the ones who do. I'm in the second category for sure:). I still don't have any tattoos, but I have so many ideas what I want, I will probably get my first one really soon! It's just so hard to find a good tattoo artist in Slovenia.

I already mentioned the last thing, but I really started loving yoga. I do yoga on days, when my muscles are too tired and sore to do a regular workout, and I really started realizing that yoga is so much more. It's meditation, healing and relaxing process etc. that makes you fell calm and prepared for the day. If you are familiar with yoga, you probably know what I'm talking about :)

What do you love?

The penguin challenge look 3: purple everywhere

It's time for the last look for the penguin challenge. I had so much fun creating all three looks, and looking at other masterpieces :). I love makeup so much, that's why I decided to do more makeup blog post, because it's the funnest thing to do! :)

The third look has to be white and colour. My first thought was white and orange (who knows why ...), but instead I decided to go with purple-white look, for I remembered I had some purple false eyelashes! Because I didn't want to incorporate black mascara, unfortunately I don't have purple mascara :)

So here is the look I created:

Face:
- Bourjois foundation Bio detox organic
- E.l.f. Under eye concealer and highlighter
- E.l.f. High Definition Powder
- E.l.f. Brush (it has no name on it, it's kinda pinky-peachy-purple-y shimmery shade :D)

Eyes:
- Artdeco eyeshadow base
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil 604 Milk
- BH cosmetics 88 Color palette Tropical shimmer eyeshadow (it has only two purple shadows, used them both)
- Coastal Scents 88 Color Eye Shadow Palette (used the darkest purple)
- Sleek i-Divine palette in Chaos (matte white)
- BeautyUK eyeshadow collection in Twilight (shimmery white)
- Kiko Mixing solution
- Baci false eyelashes No. 545 (purple lashes, I bought them in erotic shop :P)
- Duo eyelash adhesive Clear-white

Lips:
- Artdeco High Performance Lipstick in shade 498
- Artdeco Soft Lip Liner waterproof 91
- Revlon Lipbutter Gumdrop

Firstly, I applied foundation, concealer, set everything with powder and primed my eyes. Applied NYX Jumbo pencil on my lids, blended it with my fingers. Started applying shimmery purple on outer corner of my eyes, in my crease and in the inner corner, leaving the center of my lids uncovered. Applied another darker purple-y shade over what I just did and white matte eyeshadow in the center. With wet brush (mixing solution) I applied white shimmery shade in the center. I deepened the outer corner with darker shade of purple and blended it with white brow highlight colour. Did the same thing on my lower lashline. Lined my eyes with wet brush and dark purple eyeshadow. Applied white jumbo pencil in my waterline. I left my eyebrows au natural.

I outlined and filled in the corners of my lips with purple lip pencil and applied darker lipstick. In the center I applied light purple shade and dabbed some shimmery white eyeshadow on top.

You can make this look easily more wearable with skipping the purple eyelashes, you can apply black false lashes or just black mascara. And you can switch for natural lipstick shade.

I think I could have done so much better with this look, but I don't really have time to recreate it. Maybe some other time :)

Have a lovely day!

Birthday haul + randomness

I had a birthday on 3rd August (sweet 16 :P) and today I will show you what I got as a gift or what I bought myself. I spoil myself all year though :P

The most exciting thing were dumbbells from my roommates (thank you! ;)). I like incorporating them in my workouts to keep them interesting and harder, because some exercises without any weights seem too easy for me. 4 kg each, because I'm advanced ;)

A book about yoga is another pretty exciting thing. A dear friend of mine got it for me, and now I think it's the time to expand my yoga knowledge and start becoming a pro at it ;). And I must not forget to mention the bag a book came in. It has captain Jack Sparrow on it! :D It will probably end up hanging on my wall ;)

My sister got me three vegan protein bars, which I already eaten :), goji berries and soap. Everything is  from Or-ca.

My mum got me a new pair of trainers for my workouts, the old ones were just ... old :).

Now for the best part ... what I got for myself :).
A black sports bra by Nike, it gives middle support, good for yoga and for everyday wear. I love sport bras so much, I may wear them for the rest of my life. ;)

Two pairs of cute shoes :).

I bought another two Revlon Lipbutters in 050 Berry Smoothie and 070 Cherry Tart. I really love my first two lip butters I bought, I want to have them all :P. I think I promised you a review. Lack of motivation for blogging, I guess :(

I haven't had any random chit chats for a very long time. I was thinking about a new design about my blog. Yes, I know I redesigned it quite some times, but I'm still not 100 % satisfied with it. I was even thinking about blog header and I think I should change the "line" for my blog ("the place for mad hatters"). I was thinking about changing it into: "Not an ordinary beauty blog." or something like that ... I decided for this line, because I don't write only about cosmetics, I have probably the most random blog ever :D. Or is it "A place for mad hatter" better line?
You have any other ideas? Would love to hear them!

I made those shorts. Would you like to see a blog post on them?

On Wednesday I will post the last look for the Penguin challenge (white and  colour) - still don't know what to create :). Click here: look 1 and look 2, if you haven't seen them yet :)

Have a lovely night, afternoon, morning, day (I don't know what's the time where you live :D)

The penguin challenge look 2: 80's inspired, colour block

The second look from the penguin challenge has to be black and colour. Because penguins live in the water (well, they don't live in the water, but they swim and hunt in the water :D), I wanted to do something with blue. I decided to go with turquoise, for it's one of my favourite colours.
This look is much simpler than the first one (you don't say? :D), I really wanted to create something more wearable. Although it's still not probably the most wearable look, but you can easily tone it down or make it even more dramatic.

So here is the look I created:

Products used:

face:
- Essence Clear&matt Make-up oil-free foundation 01 porcelain
- Bourjois healthy mix concealer 52 Vanille
- E.l.f. complexion perfection
- NYX blush Pinched
- NYX Mosaic powder highlight

eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer potion Eyeshadow base
- E.l.f. Creme liner Teal tease
- Coastal Scents (turquoise colour and a lighter blue, I applied in the center of the lids and inner corner)
- NYX Mosaic powder highlight
- Essence gel liner 01 Midnight in Paris
- Catrice Kohl Kajal black
- Bourjois Volume Glomour Max definition mascara
- Baci false eyelashes no. 652

eyebrows:
- Catrice Absolute Eye colour 350 Starlight Expresso

lips:
- Revlon Lipbutter TuttiFrutti

I applied creme eyeliner as an eyeshadow base, to make an eyeshadow pop. I set it with turquoise eyeshadow to prevent smudging and creasing. In the center of my eyelid and in my inner corners I applied light blue to add some dimension. For brow highlight I used the same one as for the face (NYX), I lined my upper lash line with black gel liner and bottom lash line with black eyeshadow and a little bit of turquoise colour. Applied black pencil in my waterline, added mascara and false lashes.

Because eyes were blue, I decided to do orange lips, because those colours compliment each other. For cheeks I also chose orange-y blush.
Afterwards I realized that I colour blocked and it kinda reminds me of 80's makeup. That's why I wrote that in the title :).
As easy as ABC :)

Do you like it? I think it's really easy to do and I would totally wear it. Would you?

DIY: coffee body scrub

I don't know about you, but I get ingrown hair super fast. And if I don't exfoliate, my skin is not soft and feeling on my skin is kinda "blah". For me the best body scrubs/peeling are homemade, DIY ... simple, cheap and not time consuming at all.
I came across with this body scrub, it has only four simple ingredients, which I already had in my kitchen, although I'm not a coffee drinker :).

This scrub can help you eliminate cellulite, I've read that coffee scrubs are good for that ... and because coffee is dark, it can help you maintain your tan. I'm super white (well my legs are super duper white :D), it didn't do much for me :D.

Here is the recipe:
- 2 tablespoon of organic sugar
- 1 tablespoon of finely ground coffee
- 1 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice (any other citrus will do, too)
- pinch of Himalayan salt (you can use sea salt)

Mix all the ingredients together and your mixture is ready to use :). I applied it on wet skin under the shower. Afterwards I used self tanner on my legs (exfoliation is key for smooth fake tan) and moisturising cream on my other body areas.

Nothing smells better than coffee :)

Enjoy the softness of your skin ;).

You can add essential oils if you would like to change the smell of it, but I got a terrible allergy once because of it, and I prefer simplicity :).

Tell me how it turned out if you tried it. What kind of body scrubs/peelings do you use?

xoxo Deja

P.S.: Thank you for lovely comments on my last blog post "The penguin challenge look 1: Drag queen". You just made my whole year ;). Love you all <3

The penguin challenge look 1: drag queen

I love drag queens. Their makeup application is perfection, glitter everywhere, dramatic lips, dramatic contouring, a lot of highlighter, the more sets of false eyelashes the better ... I was even a drag queen for a masquerade this year. That was the first time I tried drag makeup. I haven't even practiced or anything, but then I realized it was not even that hard to do. That's why I decided to do it for my first look for the penguin (black and white) challenge. Here are the awesome ladies who came up with this challenge: Kaki, Alexis and Mimi.

Oh, yeah.. And according to google, my drag queen name is Iva Fetish ;).

Here is the look I came up with:

Products used:

face:
- Sephora Base lissante Smoothing primer
- Bourjois foundation healthy mix 52 Vanille
- E.l.f. High definition powder
- E.l.f.Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
- E.l.f. Blush Gotta glow

lips:
- Bourjois eyeliner pencil 01 Noir expert
- Revlon lipbutter 060 Gumdrop
(I didn't really want to do black and white lips, that's why I chose really light purple colour, which still kinda resembles white)

eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer potion Eyeshadow base
- Bourjois eyeliner pencil 02 Noir expert
- NYX Jumbo pencil 604 Milk
- Bourjois Liner feutre 11 Noir
- black  and white matte eyeshadow from Sleek i-divine pallette Chaos 577
- shimmery eyeshadow from BeautyUK eyeshadow collection pallette Twilight
- Barry M glitter stacking set mixed with Kiko mixing solution Solution mixante
- Baci lingerie false eyelashes no. 670 glued with Duo eyelash adhesive dark-tone
- Artdeco all in one mascara black

eyebrows:
- Catrice Absolute Eye colour 350 Starligh Expresso

I started with the eyes, I assumed that I will have a lot of fallout from glitter and black, at the end wasn't that bad :D. Firstly, right after the primer I roughly draw with Bourjois' black liner pencil where I want my lines to go. Then I started building up the black eyeshadow and applied NYX's jumbo pencil on my lids, set it with matte eyeshadow, followed by shimmery white, also on my brow bone. Then I applied white-ish glitter with mixing solution on my lids. Lined my upper eyelash line with Bourjois' Liner feutre, also the lower lash line. Added black shadow on lower lash line, and jumbo pencil to waterline and outer part in between the upper and lower black line. Added falsies and mascara.

Then I applied foundation, concealer, set everything with powder, contoured, applied blush and highlighter.
Then I lined my lips and a little bit in the corners with black eyeliner, in the center I applied Revlon Lipbutter.
The last thing were my eyebrows, and I always stick to my basics. Catrice Starligh Expresso never disappoints me :).

I still think this is more of a toned down drag makeup ... I didn't cover my eyebrows and draw them on, I just filled them and made them longer. I was thinking about applying two sets of lashes, but I intended to clean the makeup afterwards, and I'm lazy when it comes to cleaning my false lashes (and brushes, too). :P

Tell me, if you like iiiiit :). Would you wear it? :D

Have a lovely day <3

xoxo Deja

P.S. Special thanks to my roommate/dear friend/partner in crime who took the pictures. You rock ;)

And here are the lovely ladies who already did the first look. I'm one day behind. Whoopsie ;)
